167 women accuse Beverly Hills OBGYN of sexual misconduct

  • Barry Brock, 74, practiced from 1979-2024
  • He retired in August after being suspended in July
  • Former patients accuse him of touching them inappropriately

A new legal action filed against a Beverly Hills obstetrician-gynecologist has brought the total number of reported sexual abuse victims to 167.

The latest plaintiffs join 60 other former patients accusing Dr. Barry J. Brock, 74, of “sexually exploitative and abusive conduct spanning several decades,” according to the lawsuit.

Brock, who was affiliated with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center until 2018 and maintained clinical privileges there until last year, is alleged to have carried out his actions while under the institution’s umbrella. The lawsuit further alleges that Cedars-Sinai and other associated medical practices concealed his misconduct.

“From 1979 to August 2024, Brock was permitted to continue harming, exploiting, and abusing patients under the pretense of providing medical care at Cedars-Sinai,” the lawsuit states.

He was suspended in July, and his hospital privileges were officially revoked a few months later.

Former patients, who filed the lawsuit on December 27 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, accuse the obstetrician-gynecologist of making inappropriate remarks and engaging in invasive and violating physical contact.

The allegations include performing vaginal exams without wearing gloves, improperly touching patients’ clitorises, misusing examination instruments, and making sexually suggestive comments.

Brock retired in August, according to details outlined in the lawsuit obtained by the Los Angeles Times.

“The behavior alleged against Dr. Barry Brock is completely inconsistent with Cedars-Sinai’s core values and the trust we work hard to build with our patients every day,” a spokesperson for Cedars-Sinai told the LA Times. “Dr. Brock no longer holds medical privileges at Cedars-Sinai, and we have reported the matter to the California Medical Board.”
